Restaurant Review: American Tandoor
American Tandoor is a fairly new Indian-American fusion restaurant in Tysons Corner. It is the perfect restaurant for those who would like to get introduced to Indian cuisine or people looking for a new take on traditional Indian flavors.
They serve a brunch buffet every Sunday from 11am to 4pm and are open late during the week. The atmosphere is vibrant and modern, quite unlike most other Indian restaurants, and the staff are gracious and knowledgeable.
The menu at American Tandoor includes Americanized-versions of Indian foods with appetizers like shrimp & calamari koliwada and entrees such as short rib nihari. Most of the dishes, including my personal favorite the pulled lamb “raan” sandwich, which come with fries, a choice of sides, and unique sauces. The drinks are served with a glass of tiny spherical ice cubes on the side and the numerous house-made sodas, including cucumber, passionfruit, and coconut, are delicious.
For a gradual introduction to Indian food or for some fresh new flavors, be sure to check out American Tandoor or their smaller takeout version inside the Tysons mall.
