College Football Picks of the Week: Week 3

After a pretty boring Week 2 with no real matchups, Week 3 is loaded with games, as some teams are still finishing up their out of conference schedules, and some are starting their respective in conference season

#2 FSU vs #10 Louisville 12:00 pm ABC

The first top ten matchup of the season is going to be an electric one, FSU has a high powered offense with stars everywhere and one of the best running backs in the country. Their defense has improved and they are poised to make a CFB Final Four run. Louisville on the other hand has taken everyone by surprise and has looked great in weeks one and two. The one player to credit Louisville’s early success to is quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has scored 14 (!) touchdowns, rushing and passing, in two games. As of now he is the nation’s best player, but it’s going to be a test with this Florida State defense, by far the toughest competition of their year.

FSU wins the best game of the week 41-38

#1 Alabama vs #19 Ole Miss 3:30 pm CBS

This game was marked on a lot of peoples calendars this year. Alabama has lost both meetings against Ole Miss in the past two seasons, and both teams have shown a lot of things, good and bad, thus far in the first two weeks.  Alabama’s quarter back Jalen Hurts has done more damage with his feet than his arm so far, and hasn’t looked like a clear number one for Nick Saban’s offense. Either way their defense has looked stellar and has been causing turnovers a lot. Ole Miss on the other hand has been defined by their week one collapse against Florida State, but with how good their offense looked, especially in the first half, they can cause some damage early with Chad Kelly as their quarterback.

Ole Miss jumps out early at home and maintains the lead, upsetting #1 Alabama 35-28

#12 Michigan State vs #18 Notre Dame 7:30 pm NBC

Before getting their Big Ten season on the road, Michigan State starts with a tough matchup against a Notre Dame team that is still recovering from a week one double overtime loss to Texas. Michigan State lost their seasoned veteran quarterback last year, but they win games mainly with their defense and their run game. Notre Dame’s offense has looked fantastic so far, with starting QB DeShone Kizer looking like a potential Heisman candidate.

Notre Dame gets their season back on track and takes it 31-21

#3 Ohio State vs #14 Oklahoma 7:30 pm FOX

Oklahoma is another team recovering from a tough week one loss, and can make up for it with a win against the Buckeyes. Oklahoma’s offense is still as good as expected, but their defense is going to need to get timely stops against a fast, spread-out, Ohio State offense led by quarterback J.T Barret.

Oklahoma fights, but their Final Four hopes fall short. Ohio State wins 45-41
