NFL Week 1 Picks
Panthers vs. Broncos 8:30 pm NBC
The first game of the NFL season kicks off with a Super Bowl rematch of last year, the reigning MVP Cam Newton and the Panthers look for revenge against the best defense in the league while starting a quarterback who has one career NFL snap. If Broncos QB Trevor Siemian can play anywhere close to how Peyton Manning played throughout last season, the Broncos should be back in the championship. The Panthers look relatively identical to last year on both sides of the ball, but their offense gets back rookie star Kelvin Benjamin who was injured all of last season to help their low talented wide receiver position.
PREDICTION: Panthers get their revenge in Denver 27-16
Giants vs Cowboys 4:25 pm FOX
This divisional matchup takes place in Dallas as both teams look to rebound after under-achieved seasons this past year. Dallas hoped to return quarterback Tony Romo before a preseason back injury that looks severe to this season. The problem with this injury is that now they will look to rookie Dak Prescott to lead their team full of talent with players like Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and Ezekiel Elliot. The Giants on the other hand have possibly the most talented offense in the NFC East, and spent a lot of free agency bolstering up their defense with talent.
PREDICTION: Giants win a close one 24-21
Patriots vs Cardinals 8:30 pm NBC
This matchup is going to include two teams that lost in their respective conference finals last year, but both look to be Super Bowl contenders this year. Tom Brady will serve the first of his four game suspension, one that is claimed to be unjust by many throughout the league. Will second year QB Jimmy Garoppolo be able to put up consistent offense against a very good Cardinals defense in his first career start? I don’t think so.
PREDICTION: Cardinals control the game and win 17-7
Steelers vs Redskins 7:10 pm ESPN (Monday Night Football)
The first of two Monday night finales for the weekend begins with a possible game of the week matchup with two high powered offenses. Ben Roethlisberger leads an offense with Antonio Brown, possibly the best receiver quarterback duo in the league, while Kirk Cousins leads a promising young Redskins offense.
PREDICTION: Steelers wins BIG 34-14
