Blackwell Commits to Mary Washington
Dominon senior lacrosse star Nicolette Blackwell has verbally committed to play lacrosse at the University of Mary Washington as a member of their Class of 2021.
Among Dominion’s most decorated athletes, Blackwell has racked up her share of accolades while playing for the Titans – three straight all-district and all-region recognitions as well as second-team all-state honors this year.
Blackwell, a varsity lacrosse standout since her freshman year, has wanted to play in college since middle school. “It’s always something I’ve wanted to accomplish,” Blackwell said.
While Blackwell was faced with several other offers, choosing Mary Washington was a no-brainer. “It’s just the perfect fit for me,” says Blackwell. “The school offers what I’m looking to study in, [and] I absolutely love the coaching program.”
Though she describes the recruiting process as “long and stressful,” Blackwell believes it was all worth it in the end. “Both the head and assistant coach are so great to work with. [Mary Washington] had been my first choice for a while. After going to UMW camp, I had the opportunity to work with the coaches, and that just solidified it as my first choice.”
Blackwell hopes to study business during her time at the University.
