DHS Press Top 10 Mock Draft

DHS Press Top 10 Mock Draft

Zack Herink

  1. A. Rams: Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St.
    1. The Rams can’t rely on Case Keenum to be their QB of the future. His best ability is his will to win.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles: Jared Goff QB California
    1. Sam Bradford is never healthy and is not the QB the Eagles need. His best ability is his great decision making.
  3. San Diego Chargers: Jalen Ramsey DB Florida St.
    1. The Chargers pass defense could use some serious reconstruction and Ramsey is the guy to help them bring it together. His best ability is fantastic Zone Coverage.
  4. Dallas Cowboys: Joey Bosa DL Ohio St.
    1. The Cowboys haven’t had a great pass rusher since DeMarcus Ware and Joey Bosa will fill the void. His best ability is TFL/Sacks.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Myles Jack LB UCLA
    1. The Jaguars don’t really need a LB but this guy is hard to pass up, I feel at #5 he’s a steal. His best strength is stopping the run.
  6. Baltimore Ravens: Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss
    1. The Ravens are desperate for some offensive linemen to get some protection for Joe Flaco and Tunsil is the most complete OL in the draft. Best strength is pass blocking.
  7. San Francisco 49ers: Ronnie Stanley OT Norte Dame
    1. Well even if they don’t have a QB at least whoever it is will have protection. Best strength is pass blocking.
  8. Cleveland Browns: Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St.
    1. Cleveland needs just about everything so might as well take someone from an Ohio school. His best strength is being fast.
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vernon Hargreaves DB Florida
    1. The best overall cover guy in the draft is exactly what the Bucs need to get that defense in check. His best strength is Man-on-Man coverage.
  10. New York Giants: Deforest Buckner DL Oregon
    1. A great overall D-Lineman that will really help the Giants front seven. Best strength is being disruptive.

Daniel McHale

  1. LA Rams- Jared Goff, California QB
    1. Goff is a quick decision maker and more “pro-ready” than Carson Wentz.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles- Carson Wentz, North Dakota State QB
    1. Philly has been after Wentz all along, and has quarterbacks that would help him transition into the big league.
  3. San Diego Chargers- Laremy Tunsil, Mississippi OT
    1. Phillip Rivers needs pass protection and Tunsil as a Left Tackle would be the best answer.
  4. Dallas Cowboys- Joey Bosa, Ohio State DE
    1. Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory are both suspended for the first four games of Dallas’ season, and they desperately need someone who can rush the quarterback.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars- Myles Jack, UCLA OLB
    1. Jack is a strong playmaker that will help Jacksonville add a few wins to the upcoming season.
  6. Baltimore Ravens- Jalen Ramsey, Florida State CB
    1. Ramsey is a fantastic defender that Baltimore can use all over the field.
  7. San Francisco 49ers- Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame OT
    1. Chip Kelly could use someone to get the San Fran offensive line back in order.
  8. Cleveland Browns- Jack Conklin, Michigan State OT
    1. Cleveland stinks, which is a known fact, so they could start repairing themselves by sticking Conklin in at right tackle.
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Vernon Hargreaves, Florida CB
    1. Hargreaves is one of the best cornerbacks right now and can really help out Tampa.
  10. New York Giants- Ezekiel Elliot, Ohio State RB
    1. Elliot is a great running back that would pair nicely with Eli Manning and OBJ.

Tucker Strycharz

  1. LA Rams- QB Jared Goff
    1. After the move to Los Angeles, the Rams are looking for their franchise player to create some energy in their new home. They found their guy, Jared Goff is the best player in the draft and he knows how to take a losing team and make it into a winning team.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles- QB Carson Wentz
    1. Although Wentz is projected to go after Goff, many people believe that he has a higher ceiling because he has more arm strength and speed than Goff. Regardless, the Eagles found their long term quarterback and the guy that they will build a team around.
  3. San Diego Chargers- OT Laremy Tunsil
    1. The chargers had little to no success running the ball last year and they will almost certainly invest a first round draft pick in Tunsil, but they may be willing to trade back to get him. The Chargers will start their rebuilding process up front with an offensive lineman and Tunsil is the best there is this year.
  4. Dallas Cowboys- CB Jalen Ramsey
    1. The Cowboys have filled most of their team needs through free agency and will need to choose between a star pass rusher in Joey Bosa and a lockdown corner in Jalen Ramsey. The Cowboys have signed three defensive linemen this offseason so that would point to them leaning toward Ramsey. If they do pick Ramsey, they will be getting an impressive athlete in coverage that can also provide support against the run with his commanding 6’1 210 frame.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars – DE Joey Bosa –
    1. The Jaguars will end up getting whoever the cowboys do not pick, unless they want to trade up through the Chargers. Either way, both Bosa and Ramsey are big time playmakers that will provide a significant upgrade to their defense. Bosa is the best pass rusher in the draft this year and the Jaguars are in need of defensive playmakers like him.
  6. Baltimore Ravens- OT Ronnie Stanley
    1. The Ravens are in need of linemen on both sides of the ball and Stanley fits the bill. He is right behind Tunsil if not in front of him on most draft boards. Stanley is a solid pick for the Ravens and will get the chance to see the field early on in his career.
  7. San Francisco 49’ers – DE DeForester Buckner
    1. Buckner may be a better athlete than Joey Bosa but he is not as dangerous of a pass rusher which is why Bosa will get picked up first. He will help the 49’ers front line with his quickness of the ball and his ability to make plays off of his athleticism alone.
  8. Miami Dolphins (From Browns) – HB Ezekiel Elliot
    1. The Browns have been eying quarterback Paxton Lynch, which gives them the ability to drop back into the teens and pick up another couple draft picks before taking them. If Elliot makes it this far, the Dolphins will have to make a jump on him or somebody else will. Elliot is an all-around back who can make plays in space, making him a perfect fit for Miami’s backfield which needs as many playmakers as they can get.
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers –CB Vernon Hargreaves
    1. The Buccaneers have great long-term potential on offense but they will need a defensive playmaker on the back end. Hargreaves is the most natural cover corner in this year’s draft. He has proven himself to be a lockdown corner at Florida but will need to bulk up if he wants to be one of the best in the NFL.
  10. New York Giants- LB Leonard Floyd
    1. The Giants need a linebacker to fill the hole in the middle of their defense and after teams got a look at Myles Jack’s knee, Floyd will jump him on most draft boards. Floyd is not going to provide immediate playing time in the NFL because of his relatively thin frame but his athleticism makes him worth the pick for the struggling Giants defense.
