How to Raise Your SAT Score
Many students want to raise their SAT score to improve their chances of getting into their choice of schools, although going about this process can be difficult and confusing.
If you have the opportunity, attempt to enroll in an SAT prep class with Kaplan or another test preparation company. These classes usually allow you to buy extremely useful resources and prep books and give you access to many practice tests.
If this is not a possibility for you, you can always use your Khan Academy account, which you receive for free after taking the PSAT. Khan Academy personalizes lesson based on students’ weaknesses and greatly aid in improving students’ overall score.
However, if you do not like any of the previous options, you can always buy the official College Board prep book and study independently or with a personalized tutor.
When studying for the writing section, the new SAT has a different format, so be sure to review rhetorical strategies and reasoning. The reading section is similar to this format.
In preparation for the math sections, be sure to review algebra and algebraic concepts as these sections are heavily algebra based.
Learn how to translate long, complex word problems into math equations, as this certain type of problem is prevalent in the math sections on the test.
Before the test, make sure to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and be sure to bring a graphing calculator and two non-mechanical pencils to the test. Good luck!
