Students Speaking Sports: NFL Draft

The Titans agreed to trade their number 1 overall pick to the Rams for their 15th overall pick, two second round picks, and a third round pick in the 2016 draft. They’ll also be receiving Los Angeles’ first round pick in 2017 as well. Along with the number one overall pick, L.A. will also receive a fourth round pick and a sixth round pick.

I personally think Tennessee get the better end of the deal on this one. L.A. must have some serious confidence in their pick if they were willing to give Tennessee so many of their own. The Titans are now able to “really bolster [their] roster with the picks [they] now have,” as said by Titans general manager Jon Robinson. With all the picks they got out of the deal, Tennessee should easily be able to capitalize on their end of the deal and set themselves up for a better season then their 3-13 record last season. Maybe all the picks can lead to a four win season.

Of course any time major changes like the Rams are going through happen, teams need to make sure they are on the right path towards success, but I just don’t understand the logic behind giving away so many picks. However, L.A. is looking at both North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz and Cal quarterback Jared Goff as their number one pick.
