This past week’s news was charged with even more political controversy than usual in the aftermath of the 2005 Trump tape that wreaked havoc on the Republican nominee’s campaign. Multiple women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault, generating further questions regarding Trump’s character and ethics, which has been a largely focused on aspect of this election cycle.

Amid turmoil and extreme partisanship created by the 2016 presidential election cycle, a firebomb was set off in the Republican Headquarters established in Hillsborough, North Carolina. There was a significant amount of damage inflicted on the property, as the resultant fire destroyed campaign signs, windows, couches, etc. Additionally, there was a swastika spray painted on the wall along with the words “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”

The U.S. Olympian Tyson Gay’s daughter, Trinity, died in an early morning shooting that occurred in Lexington, Kentucky. Gay was shocked by his daughter’s sudden and tragic death as she had been home for fall break the previous week. Trinity died in the crossfire of two men who were shooting at each other in a parking lot of a Cook Out restaurant. One man has been arrested for this crime. However, police are still investigating the case and looking for the second suspect.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, thousands of Haitians were left homeless after the storm system devastated their communities and destroyed their homes and property. Hundreds of Haitians displaced by the hurricane gathered in a cave in Lacadonie, Haiti, seeking shelter and refuge from the inclement weather. Similar instances of massive numbers of Haitians gathering in caves, schools, and hospitals occurred throughout the region.
